WTF?!?!??

How the FUCK does CARL EDWARDS get invited to the IROC series?????? i thought it was international race of CHAMPIONS, not international race of close-but-no-cigar-flip-boy. what the hell is going on? is EVERYTHING that Dale Earnhardt used to be associated with destined to turn to complete and total shit? if i lived in Kannapolis i'd start looking to move now before the simultaneous strike of an earthquake, tornado, tsunami, hurricane, flood, wildfire, meteor, and plague of locusts.

A side note, it says that Danica Patrick was considered but wasn't invited. If you're going to be throwing out invites to Rookies-of-the-year winners, why not pick the one that has a shot at getting people interested in IROC racing again?

I'm not understanding why he's there? He's not a "Past" Champion. Has never been a Champion anywhere else ( however, I'm not UTD with his stats outside of Nascar). Iroc has turned into a fiasco.

I thought it stood for International Race of CHAMPIONS and the Key word here is "CHAMPION". That means you shouldn't be eligable unless your a Veteran of the Sport like Mark Martin. (Although I still have reservations about that). A past Winston/Nextel Cup Champ and/or Truck Series/Busch Series Champ.

Supposively, Roush chose him because the Sponsor is Royal Crown and Roush is affiliated with Royal Crown by sponsorship...So they gave Edwards the Nod to race in Iroc.

It really must be a mediocore Series in all honesty. I mean Jr. is eligable . He doesn't race in it anymore but has in the past. I wonder what the core reason is for it's decline? Perhaps the "Real Champions" were tired of sharing the track with Drivers who wern't worthy?

From what I have read about the IROC series is a few years back they decided that after the Champions, it would go to the top 5 in points in Cup -- thus the reason Edwards is eligible. I am just peeved as all hell about Kenseth being in there too...another year of IROC being a majority Roush friggin race.

Oh and Jr. is NOT eligible any longer for IROC as it's for the CURRENT Busch champion. (Or he has to win a championship or finish in the top 5 in points.) Remember last year Stewart and Jeff Gordon turned down the invitation extended to them. Guess Tony had a change of heart this year.

Some of the field I never heard pf before. Not that means much, but still to draw a crowd shouldn't they pick drivers that are known? As far as Roush and all his Roushkateers, next thing you know they will change it the series to AROC, All Roush Owned Cars.

I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who wondered what the hell was going on when they said Carl Edwards was competing in IROC. I still don't get that shit.

Welcome back Mayor!!! I missed ya!!!

Shea, perhaps they are having trouble getting enough drivers to participate, so they extend invitations to the top 5. As for Mark Martin, I'm not sure why he was invited into the IROC series way back when, but if I remember correctly, he has won the IROC title a few times, thus he keeps getting invited back. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Yep, he did.

When it comes to recruiting sponsors (and viewers) I'd be willing to bet hard cash that Danica is a far bigger draw than Edwards (not putting him down, but outside of NASCAR and the Amanda Beard fan club, who's heard of him?). What was IROC thinking?

they were thinking, "our sponser is Crown Royal. Crown Royal is also a Roush sponser. MORE ROUSH DRIVERS!!!!"
